Non-craft content today, but I'm putting this in writing to keep myself honest :) One of my goals this summer is to get more exercise. We already walk Oscar for 30-45 minutes every morning, so we're starting with an achievable goal involving this:
Right now, we walk Oscar around the park one time and then home. It would probably be easy to just add a second lap of the park, but that sounds boring to me and we haven't managed to do it despite saying it was a good idea for weeks. We're trying something new for the month of June: the capitol stairs! We actually started last Friday, so I've made sure this is do-able before putting it in writing :)
If you click on the picture, I've added notes to highlight the two sets of stairs that go up the side of the big hill by the Tennessee capitol building. For the next two weeks, we're just going to go up the first set of stairs, to halfway up the hill. After that, our goal is to go up the second set of stairs as well. Once we actually make it up there (which we've never managed), we'll set another goal. The stairs looks like nothing in the picture, but they're actually both fairly long staircases. Or so I tell myself.
None of this really makes me feel better about the cute couple who jogged up and down the first set of stairs 3 times on Tuesday in the time it took us to trudge up to the top a single time. I'll never be like them (jogging, yech), but maybe we can cut it down to only lapping us once :)
Oscar, by the way, hates the stairs more than I do. His answer is to jump up onto the wide smooth concrete strip along the stairs and just walk along. He could walk up on the grass next to the concrete, but in true "city dog" style, he prefers pavement :)
