I had a bit of a knitting meltdown last week over the Biscuits & Bones Dog Coat. I kept going back to work on the dog sweater some more, doing two rows, getting irritated by how bad it looked, and then giving up on knitting. Not cool. Then I saw some very cute waffle weave dishcloths on Junie Moon's blog, which lead me over to the Homespun Living blog for the pattern.
And before I knew it, ta-da! A finished dishcloth!
But then it was like potato chips - I couldn't knit just one! And then suddenly... there was another dishcloth (and another on the needles BTW)!
Pattern: Waffle weave dishcloth
Yarn: Peaches N Creme (long since lost track of the colors, sorry)
Needles: #5 Needles
Started: January 2008
Finished: January 2008
Will I make this again? Yep.
I've been doing the whole dishcloth thing for a while, but have only used the pattern from Mason Dixon Knitting so far. I really love a good waffle weave texture, so this pattern was perfect. I feel like I'm on the rebound - dog sweater not working out for you? Try this dishcloth!
I really loved how this stitch pattern worked with the solid colors. I think it also looked really nice with the ombre colors, when used for the whole dishcloth. I wasn't quite as fond of the ombre colors used as contrast stripes, too jumbled looking.
In other news, my schedule related to school for the next few months looks like it's going to be rather insane. Big grant deadline on February 15th. Big qualifying exam in mid-March. Big PhD proposal defense at the end of March. With at least two trips to Memphis for project-related work sprinkled in there. And then we're going on vacation, assuming I'm still functioning by that point. I've got this vein in my forehead that's starting to throb from my bad case of stressy-itis (that, BTW, is a reference to the short-lived animated show Stressed Eric, one of the all time funniest shows I have ever seen in my life - or at least the Pony episode). I'm very happy I have knitting to help mediate a bit of the stress, even if my gauge gets a bit off during times like this :)
